50 and movie Gun

While 50 Cent is in town shooting "Setup," he'll attend a premiere of "Gun," which he filmed in Grand Rapids in January with co-stars Val Kilmer, John Larroquette and AnnaLynne McCord.

The movie, a crime-thriller about weapons dealers, will show at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Celebration Cinema North. Tickets are $10, and on sale now here or at the Celebration box office. Proceeds from the screening will benefit the West Michigan Film Office.

This will be the only time "Gun" will be shown in a theater before its Jan. 4 DVD release.

"50 Cent will be there, and we'll have the red carpet and everything," said Rick Hert, director of the WMFO. "Celebration Cinema was thoughtful enough to work with us on this, and the production company is allowing us a one-time shot to show this movie on the big screen."

Hert said efforts are being made to have McCord and others involved with the film to attend the premiere, but other attendees have yet to be confirmed.

"Gun" is from 50 Cent's Cheetah Vision movie-production imprint, which he formed with producers Randall Emmett and George Furla. The company is currently filming "Setup" in Grand Rapids, and previously shot "Caught in the Crossfire" and "Things Fall Apart" locally. Last May, "Crossfire" debuted locallly to a sold-out crowd.
